Troy is an incredible city. Here, people can work, raise families, have great educations, and live an amazing life. Opportunity is everything, and Troy provides its citizens with endless opportunities.
I’m Dave Henderson. A citizen, just like yourself. I work to help the people of this community, and come home to provide for my family just like you do. However great Troy may be, there is always room for improvement. Troy has a tremendous amount of potential. The business district on Big Beaver, and in the Maple corridor, is ever-expanding bringing countless numbers of jobs, workers, and wealth to the entire community. I helped bring MJR Theater to the corner of Maple and Livernois at the old Kmart store site, which has been a game changer economically for that section of Troy. However, the expansion of our city needs to be managed carefully, any mistakes can result in huge economic mishaps for the entire community. For the past four years, I have worked without rest to make sure that our tax dollars were used efficient and effectively. My efforts over the past 4 years were rewarded with a robust rebound of our local economy, and a strong general fund balance on the cities ledger, that was forecast to be zero by 2015 when I was first elected to council. Troy Roads Rock, a roads program in Troy over the last two years, has improved our infrastructure, and we can now boast about having the best roads in the area. I have been appointed to the retirement system board for city employees, and have served there for the past 3 years. I was able to oversee and usher in a change in philosophy for this board which handles investments of over $ 200,000,000 is now in a professionally managed portfolio, where it wasn’t before. The retirement fund at the date of our last actuarial report was over 100% funded. Not many communities can say that. This November, I am planning to, once again, run for city council to ensure that the influx and growth that Troy is going to experience goes about in a financially conservative way. Together, let's turn this opportunity into more great successes for both the city and the community.
Please vote for me, your neighbor and advocate, on November 3, 2015.
